AMDA EcoList

The AMDA Ecolist is a comprehensive database of the requirements of marine fishes in our trade, setting a standard for AMDA members to use. The original database was compiled by means of a detailed survey completed by AMDA members in 1996.

volitans.gif (17969 bytes)Fish are graded on a scale of 1 to 5 as follows:

  1. BEGINNER
  2. INTERMEDIATE SKILL REQUIRED
  3. REEF ONLY
  4. ADVANCED SKILL REQUIRED
  5. REQUIREMENTS UNKNOWN

The AMDA encourages use of the Ecolist as a method of labeling fishes in our stores.  Fishes can be priced or labeled identifying them according to the five categories listed above.

Fish that are considered impossible (at this time) to keep in captivity should not be carried in our stores, unless requested by an advanced customer for research.
